What are the account roles and are their permissions in my wireless account?

These are the account roles and their permissions in your Verizon wireless account:

  • Account Owner - Has access to all account information and options and can manage all lines of service on the account. There can only be 1 Account Owner. An Account Owner must be at least 18 years old (or 19 if a resident of Alabama or Nebraska).

Note: If you're the Account Owner you don't need to assign yourself as an Account Manager.

  • Account Manager - Has access to account information and most account management options and can manage all lines of service on the account. You can have up to 3 Account Managers. An Account Manager must be at least 18 years old (or 19 if a resident of Alabama or Nebraska).
  • Account Member - Has access to account information and management for only his or her line of service. Account Members are users on the account who aren’t the Account Owner or Account Managers.

Visit our My Verizon Account Access Roles page to see what each role can do.

Why would I want to assign someone as an Account Manager?

Assigning an Account Manager lets you as the Account Owner share the management of your Verizon wireless account.

An Account Manager can do almost everything the Account Owner can do, including management and transactions through:

  • Customer Service

Note: The Account Owner must share the Account PIN with the Account Manager so the Account Manager can access Customer Service by phone.

  • Verizon wireless stores
  • My Verizon website and the My Verizon app

However, Account Managers can't:

  • Assign other Account Managers.
  • Change the Account PIN.
  • Add international services within the first 34 days of account set up.
  • Disconnect accounts through My Verizon.
  • Request reactivation of a mobile line that was disconnected due to death.

Can any Account Manager be given access to sign in to My Verizon?

Account Managers must have a Verizon wireless mobile number on your account to manage the account online or through the My Verizon app. An Account Manager who doesn't have a mobile number on the account can manage the account in a Verizon store or by calling Customer Service.

How do I add an Account Manager?

The Account Owner can add Account Managers to the Verizon wireless account:

  • Visit the Account Management page in My Verizon or contact Customer Service after the account has been open for more than 7 days. In My Verizon, fill in the person's name, email address and mobile number. Choose Add Account Manager. We'll send a confirmation message to your mobile device.
  • In a Verizon store – Can add any time after the Verizon wireless account is open.

Note: You can have up to 3 Account Managers. An Account Manager must be at least 18 years old. (Exception: An Account Manager can be 19 years old if an Alabama or Nebraska resident.)

Can I set up an Account Manager with call-in access but not My Verizon access?

Yes. When you add an Account Manager, you can give:

  • The Account Manager's name. The Account Manager can then manage the account by calling Customer Service or going to a Verizon store.

Note: The Account Owner must share the Account PIN with the Account Manager so the Account Manager can access Customer Service by phone.

  • The Account Manager's name, mobile number and email address. The Account Manager can then access the account through My Verizon as well as Customer Service and in a Verizon store.

How do I give My Verizon access to a current Account Manager?

If an Account Manager has a mobile number on your account, but can't access the account through My Verizon, the Account Owner can:

  1. Remove the Account Manager from the account.
  2. Add the Account Manager back to the account and include the Account Manager's mobile number and email address.

Will the Account Manager be notified after being given access to My Verizon?

Yes. We send the Account Manager a text and email:

  • If the Account Manager isn't registered for My Verizon - The text message has a temporary password for sign in to My Verizon.
  • If the Account Manager is registered for My Verizon - The text message and email advises of the change. The Account Manager can sign in to My Verizon with his or her existing password.

How do I remove an Account Manager?

To remove an Account Manager, go to the Account Management page in My Verizon and click Remove next to the Account Manager's name. We'll send a verification request to you by email or text. Follow the link to confirm the change.

How do I change the Account Owner?

The person who originally opened your account is the Account Owner by default. To change the Account Owner you must contact Customer Service by phone.

Note: There can only be 1 Account Owner per account.
