Serial Number / Tag / Hardware Revisions

Product Label with Serial Number and Date code is located in the backside of the display

Date Code is the date of manufacture (or remanufacture): First two digits year of manufacture, Last two digits week of manufacture. Example: Date Code 1504 was manufactured in 2015 on the fourth week of the year

Hardware Revision is indicated by the seventh digit in the serial number

Pricing and Activations

Activations are a one-time fee. Users can purchase activations from their John Deere dealer or used in the secondary market and have a dealer transfer them. User provides dealer display serial number and challenge code, dealer generates a 26-digit activation code, user enters 26-digit code into display. Most activations had 15 hours of demonstration time from the factory.

Limitations / Known Issues

  • Operating Temperature -4 F to 158 F
  • Storage Temperature -40 F to 185 F
  • Meets ISOBUS 11783 VT3 Compatibility Standard (newer display software increases functionality)
  • Only one USB drive may be inserted at a time
  • Recommend 32GB or less USB drive (FAT/FAT32 File System), large flash drives take longer to be recognized
  • Will not work with AHD cameras
  • Maximum of 16 sections for Section Control
  • Maximum of 20 characters for shapefile zone rates and names
  • Maximum of 254 rates allowed in one shapefile
  • Maximum of 125 shapefiles per UDSB Flash Drive
  • Special symbols such as !@#$%^&* and even ‘(apostrophe) created in desktop software may cause file corruptions in recording, these symbols are generally greyed out on the on-screen keyboard
  • Task Templates (group setting of machine, implement, task, etc.) may not function properly. Task Templates created in Apex™ generally start with a “v” at the beginning of the task name
  • Touchscreen air bubbles / fluid leaking – John Deere Remanufacturing (repair service began in 2018), AgExpress, or other third parties can repair. Revision K and higher displays changed from optical bonding material to air gap design to reduce touch screen longevity issues
  • Red X when loading data to or from flash drive – flash drive may be going bad or have corrupt files, try another
  • Display loses activations – your John Deere Dealer can re-activate, recommend software update
  • Slow performance – delete all data off display and re-load setup data, ask your John Deere Dealer about a Field Reprogram or Factory Reprogram
  • Certain functions are greyed out – always use accept or cancel buttons on pop-up windows, Menu – GreenStar may bring pop-up back, or warm/cold boot display
  • Maximum mapping size for a single field/operation: Generally 1,000-1,500 acres, may be as little as 250 acres with SideKick Pro ISO, 530 acres with 8R30 Corn Header
  • Settings not saving at shutdown – settings are saved upon display shutdown, ensure unstitched power is available and not removed until 10 seconds after complete shutdown
  • Wireless Data Transfer does not transfer last field map – WDT transfers upon changing fields, operator did not change out of the last field
  • Video image from camera flickers, only 1 camera and ethernet cable recommended to be connected at a time
  • ISOBUS AEF Certification mode disables Original GreenStar™
  • Access Manager forgotten passwords can be recovered via a diagnostic address, see your local John Deere Dealer
  • Display will lock up if pulling SeedStar™ planter with hydraulic drive in down position and not actually planting
  • Flags cannot be deleted on display individually, only on desktop software
  • Display is not rated for open station or outdoor use, however part number PFP13002 was available in some regions
  • Should USB ports become inoperable, dealer may be able to recover data through DTAC
  • Revision J requires at minimum 16-2 software
  • Revision H requires at minimum 16-1 software
  • Operating SeedStar™ 2 Planters requires at minimum version 10 software on SeedStar™ controllers / wedgeboxes
  • Factory reprogram will reset display hours to 0
